I utilize a positive, motivational methodology to develop an unbreakable bond between me and my dog. I believe that the relationship with my dog should be based on trust, affection and understanding, not coercion or force. Training a dog, whether for competition or daily living, is a process, not an event. We can not give the dog a command and expect him to obey without first teaching him the meaning of the command. However, we can not teach the dog the meaning of the command if he does not want to learn. So the very first step in our process is to teach the dog how to learn and we do this by developing a high level of motivation and engagement through rewards, play and games.
Dogs do best when they have a clear understanding of the consequences of their actions. Their behavior must have both positive and negative consequences.
